Back when the first trailer arrived for the upcoming BAYONETTA: BLOODY FATE, some were wondering what happened to a majority of the series' cast. While there was plenty of Bayonetta herself and copious amounts of cleavage, fans were left to ponder the fate of their beloved characters. Fortunately, Gonzo has heard your cries and has released a new trailer this week which showcases the rest of the gang.
Characters such as Rodin, Enzo and Luka all make appearances in this new trailer, which should hopefully assuage some of the fears that fans have about this upcoming anime adaptation.
It also doesn't hurt that Gonzo has assembled a pretty solid group of talent to work on Bayonetta: Bloody Fate. Voicing the titular character herself will be Atsuko Tanaka, best known for her work as Motoko Kusanagi in the Ghost in the Shell series. Rival Jeanne will be voiced by Mie Sonozaki, who provided the voice of EVE in the Japanese version of WALL-E. Afro Samurai director Fuminori Kizaki will handle directing duties.
I was never the biggest Bayonetta fan, so I'm not particularly sold on this upcoming film. I do understand though that the series has a passionate fanbase, so I'm happy to see that they are being treated right by Gonzo. Hopefully Bayonetta: Bloody Fate has more in common with previous videogame anime adaptations like Street Fighter and less in common with live action adaptations such as, uh, Street Fighter.
BAYONETTA: BLOODY FATE is scheduled to hit select theaters in Japan on November 23th. Currently there are no plans to bring the anime movie to American shores. However, as points out, there is a disabled "English" link on the official website, so perhaps there is still hope that Gonzo will bring the film over here.
