AD Police Files

One more reaction post on an old show from me. AD Police Files is an OVA series made in 1990. It is related to pretty famous Bubblegum Crisis series. AD Police Files has three episodes, each 20 minutes long.

The anime is about future where humans learned how to create cybernetic organs and to create robots with artificial intelligence. The anime centers around the activities of a special police force that deals with robots that went out of control. Each of the episodes is a separate story in the Isaac Asimov style, but maybe not so deep and well thought out.

There are some robot fights with 80-s style animation, though

I would say that the anime is worth watching if you are interested in the old shows. If you are a sci-fi fan, you better start with Ghost in the Shell, because there are a lot of similar ideas in both shows, but while AD Police Files is ok, Ghost in the Shell is one of the best anime movies ever made.

AD Police Files contains both violence and nudity, but this movie has not leave a strong impression of "not safe for children" content. Don's show it to your kid brother (or sister), but if you can handle James Bond movies level of maturity don't be afraid of this show. Though, I don't remember for sure now, I watched it like a three weeks ago and I might have forgotten something.

The plot and pacing are ok, animation, art style and character designs are all typical 80-90-s, the music did not leave any strong impression. There are a lot of funny moments in this show, though. Like, there was a cyborg that asked a policeman to shot him in the tongue. You know those old OVAs, they are crazy.

That was my fast review of AD Police Files. Check it out, maybe? See you next time (^^)/
