Rupert Sanders Set To Direct Live-Action Ghost In The Shell

The long-touted and, I always believed, quite unlikely American, live-action version of Ghost in the Shell is still in development. According to , RUPERT SANDERS has been recruited to direct the film.



Sanders' debut, Snow White and the Huntsman, was rich in texture and did feature some very striking imagery. He's clearly got some skills with the modern FX toolkit too, so I'm sure that Sanders could make a Ghost movie that looks and feels pretty special.




But there's a lot more to MASAMUNE SHIROW'S manga than the style, and so we'll be looking to screenwriter WILLIAM WHEELER to really deliver too. He's perhaps best known in this parish for his work on The Cloak, though I'd say his screenplay for The Hoax is a lot more encouraging.



Now let's see if this project marches ahead or ends up caught in Akira-like circles.
