Hey film fans! Our good friends at Cineplex have once again decided to start the New Year off right with their annual GREAT DIGITAL FILM FESTIVAL, and we have a pair of passes for a lucky Canadian winner AND - to tie into this year's focus on superheroes, sci-fi, and genre fare - a really nice copy of THE ESSENTIAL BATMAN ENCYCLOPEDIA (courtesy of Random House Canada) to give away!
Kicking off at Cineplex locations across Canada on Friday, January 31st, this year's full lineup includes: AKIRA (1988), BATMAN (1989, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year), BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (1978), BRAZIL (1985), BILL AND TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE (1989, also turning 25), FLASH GORDON (1980), GHOST IN THE SHELL (1995), IRON MAN (2008), LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS (1998), LOGAN'S RUN (1976), MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL (1975), ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE (1969), PLANET OF THE APES (1968), SNATCH (2000), SPIDERMAN (2002), SUPERMAN (1978), THE AVENGERS (2012), THE DARK KNIGHT (2008), THE FISHER KING (1991), THUNDERBALL (1965), and TRON (1982).
On February 1, 2014, audiences can participate in a day-long superhero marathon, with screenings of Superman, Spiderman, Iron Man , The Avengers, Batman and The Dark Knight . The festival also features a retro sci-fi day on February 2, 2013, where fans can catch classics Battlestar Galactica, Logan's Run, Flash Gordon and Tron.
